About
The Expeditionary is a magazine that attempts to capture the spirit of old-school photojournalism. The financial incentives of the photojournalism industry have led us down a path where publications prioritize the impulsivity of the 24-hour news cycle, completely abandoning long-term documentary stories in exchange for what produces the most clicks. Most journalistic institutions have also left behind their physical publications, making us forget what it feels like to experience photography that isn't back-lit by a screen. This magazine will remind you why it feels so good to be able to physically hold great photojournalism. In the digital era this is revolutionary, which is why it is so ironic that it is the technology of the digital era that allows this magazine to exist. There are now multiple companies that allow creators like us to come together, collaborate, edit, and publish a professional magazine without having to appease the bureaucracy and editors of multimillion dollar publications. Thanks to Blurb, our magazine is printed on 80# matte text (115 GSM paper) with a durable, built to last, 80# semi-gloss (216 GSM) cover. We will take you on a visual journey to remote and challenging corners of the globe, with captivating stories from photographers, writers, and explorers from all over the world.
